Excerpt 27 'Haunted'

Life will let you get away with something for a while, but sooner or later you will pay the price. Everything you do in life causes the effects that you experience, so I hope when he gets the bill, he’s prepared to pay. I hope the way he treated my love haunts him forever. The way I poured my soul into him, the way I turned every darkness he had into light. The way I kissed his forehead when he was in pain and supported him through the most terrible times of his life. May he long for me in the moments when he is looking for someone who loves him, who understands him, and can find no one who does it as well as I did. I hope the way he let me go haunts him forever. I stayed up night after night to speak to him when he was in pain, travelled miles for him just to see him because he needed me that day. I deserved better from someone I trusted my heart with, who demanded me to surrender and then abandoned me. I hope that one day his ghost leaves my dreams and I’m not haunted by him forever. May my soul heal from the wounds he inflicted callously by treating my love like it meant nothing, ever. I deserved someone who treated my love like it was more precious than anything else in this world. I deserved someone who looked at my effort and was fortunate to find someone who cared so much. But this is what I got.
